Mrs Igwe expected Nath to rejoice after he checked his admission status but he seemed dull in her eyes. She wondered what could be his problem.
"Bia nwa, why are you not looking happy?"
"Mummy, I'm fine. Is just that i don't like the school that i was given admission into"
"What's wrong with University of Lagos?"
"But that isn't my first choice"
"Whether first or second choice, school is school"
How would Mrs Igwe understand her son's point? Nath planned to go to the same university with Karina but his dream got shattered when he discovered the school he put with Karina didn't give him admission.

Karina dressed properly, she was mostly on skirt and top. She wears trouser, but occasionally. In her jean skirt and white shirt, she walked briskly to Nath's compound. She dressed her hair from the side of her face backward occasionally as she walked. She entered into the compound and saw Nath sitting outside with only a singlet. He stood up immediately he saw Karina.
"Hi, what a surprise visit?!"
"With a surprise news!"
Karina gave him a sided hug.
"Please, lets go inside"
Nath led the way to his room while Karina followed him watching her steps.
"How is your mother?"
"She's fine"
Karina sat on the bed since there was no chair in the room. She looked around the typical boy's room. She smiled when she saw Nath's school bag hanging on the wall.
"Welcome, once again. What can i offer you?"
"You expect me to demand for something when you purposely opposed to eat something when you came to my house"
"But i wasn't hungry"
"Neither am i hungry now"
Karina watched him sat on the bed speechless.
"So, what is the surprise news?"
"I have been offered admission!"
"Wow Congratulation! To UNN, right?"
"Yes, what of you?"
"I have gained admission too" Nath replied without looking at her.
"You don't sound happy saying it. Please, tell me it's the same UNN you are admitted into"
Nath was quiet with his face on the floor. Karina could sense unspoken negative response.
"Please, tell me where have you been admitted?" Karina's voice was down.
"UNILAG" Nath responded still with his face down on the floor.
Karina was also quiet too, but she needed to make him feel happy or encourage him.
"But you don't need to be sad"
"How can you tell me that? I don't want to be far away from you"
"Neither is it my wish, but we need to accept things the way they are now"
"What do you mean by that?" Nath looked at her, but she was silent.
"what is your fear?" Karina asked.
"My fear is losing you to another man" Nath held her two hands.
"You won't lose me to any person, i promise you. I have a phone now i must make sure we communicate daily. Please just focus on your studies. I'm yours"
"Till when?" Nath wanted to know.
"Till the end, but you need to promise me one thing" Karina looked straight into his eyes.
"What's it?"
"That you won't disappoint me"
"I promise"
They kissed each other and Karina stood up to go. Nath watched her as she moved towards the door. He needed to be sure of one thing but he didn't know how to ask her.
"Karina!" He called.
Karina turned and looked at him in anticipation. Nath stood up and met her.
"How is your.." He paused looking at the ceiling.
"How is my what?" Karina was curious.
"Do you remember the day i was with you in Alex's room on Rose's birthday party?"
"Yes?"
"You made mention of 'my pride' Is it true?"
Karina understood what he was trying to ask her. She smiled.
"Yes, my virginity is my pride"
"Will you keep it for me?"
"I will, focus on your studies"
"Promise?"
"Yes, i promise"
Nath became a bit happy. He kissed her again and She went home smiling.

A month later, Catherine realised that she wasn't given admission. She cried bitterly because she was the only one who didn't gain admission among all her friends.
Elizabeth was admitted into UNIPORT. All went to school except Catherine.
Rose and Alex were also admitted in Oxford University London. They began lectures immediately. Alex focused without knowing he is a father of an unborn child by Catherine..
