Rose ran inside their house with tears in her eyes. Malam tried to talk to her but before he knew it, she was already in her room with the door locked.
"How can Karina do this to me? How can she betray me?"Rose cried in her room.
Karina also bagged in through the gate. "Kai, na where i dey go?" Malam quarreled with her at the gate.
"Please, allow me to see Rose" Karina pleaded.
"Allow her to come in!" Alex shouted through the window of his room before Malam allowed Karina in. She ran straight to Rose's room. "Rose open this door!! I'm innocent o. I don't know anything about the letter, i swear!" Karina was in tears.
"What's going on here?" Alex came out. Karina looked at him but kept quiet.
"Why are you cry... In fact, why are both at home by this time?" Alex asked, yet no reply.
Karina waited for Rose to respond but she didn't. She later went home after a long waiting.
At school, Mr Cane made sure that the football match took place and also promise to raise the matter the next day when the principal comes.
Nath couldn't stay in the school, he went home without witnessing the match.
Timothy and Jerry were only the people that stayed till the end of the day. Timothy watched how SS2 students rejoiced for winning SS3 with two gaols to nil.
Rose remained in her room till the next day without eating or drinking. She laid on the floor, still with her uniform.
Alex who had shouted and knocked on her door severally without gettin a respond was sitting in the parlour. He refused to go to school without her sister.
Karina woke up sadly on that Friday morning, the mother had prepared breakfast as usual. Karina looked at herself in the mirror, "How can people think I'm a lesbian" She thought.
"Karina, your food is ready" The mum opened her door.
"I don't want to eat"
"Why?"
"I will eat after i come back" Karina took off.
At School, rumour was still going on that Rose and Karina were lesbians. The principal was annoyed to hear such act.
The bell was rung after break period. Students were ordered to move into the hall. Karina could see Nath looking uninterested in her, she wished that he would just know the truth. Jerry was actually looking happy with his friends as all moved into the hall.
All the students were silent when the principal walked in with other teachers.
The principal started, "I'm very disappointed in what i heard. How can my students be a part of satanic act?"
students where listening knowing fully well what she was talking about.
"Karina and Rose should come out here" The principal demanded. Students watched Karina as she walked out helplessly.
"Where is Rose?" Mr Cane asked.
"She's not in school" The students chorused.
"Karina, can you tell us what has been going on between you and Rose?" The hall was as silent as a grave yard.
Karina broke down in tears. She didn't know where to start. She could see Nath watched her with no pity.
"We are listing" Another teacher said.
"I don't know anything about that paper, there is nothing going on between Rose and i. I didn't write the later." Karina defended in tears.
"Then who wrote the letter?" The principal asked. Karina was quiet as well as every students in the hall. She knew that Rose was the person who must have written the letter but she was quiet just to cover her. A sound of a pin could even be heard if it drops down on the floor.
"I wrote the letter!" Timothy said from the crowed and everybody's eyes fixed on him as he came out in front of all the students. Karina looked at him in surprise. Jerry was getting disappointed when he heard what him.
"Timothy, can you explain to us what you said" The principle and all the students looked at him.
"I was very jealous of Karina and Nath because they were dating after she rejected my relationship proposal. So i wrote the letter just to disgrace her in the public." Timothy defended Karina and looked at her piteously. There was an arising noise among the students. Karina couldn't believed that Timothy actually took the blame for Rose thinking that he was defending her
